About Accra, Ghana
Accra, Ghana’s capital, was originally a Ga settlement in the 15th century before becoming an important trading hub for the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. The Ga people, an ethnic group native to the coastal region, established fishing and trading communities here, which later evolved into a major commercial centre. Accra became the capital of the British Gold Coast in 1877 and later Ghana’s capital after independence in 1957. Today, Accra is a dynamic city blending colonial history with modern development. It is home to bustling markets, cultural landmarks like the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, and vibrant nightlife. As Ghana’s political and economic centre, Accra is a hub for international conferences and boasts a growing number of high-end hotels within a vibrant, thriving arts scene, making it a key gateway to West Africa.
AHMTEC 2025 will be held at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
