The AHMTEC Secretariat comprises distinguished leaders and innovators from Africa’s healthcare manufacturing sector. This eminent team brings deep industry expertise and strategic insight to guide the event’s vision, ensuring it addresses critical challenges and showcases opportunities that will shape the future of healthcare manufacturing across the continent.

Chair – AHMTEC 2026

Ann Marie Hosang Archer is a senior pharmaceutical executive with over 30 years of leadership experience across emerging markets in Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, and Africa. Her purpose-driven work is guided by a commitment to expanding equitable access to quality medicines and advancing women’s participation in the health sector. As the Chair of the AHMTEC Secretariat, Ann Marie brings a strong values-driven perspective to the initiative, championing sustainable access, informed demand generation and health system strengthening. She is a passionate advocate for women’s and maternal health, guided by her belief that women’s health underpins social and economic wellbeing, and is committed to initiatives that improve outcomes for women, families and communities across Africa. Ann Marie has been instrumental in setting up the WiHMA network – Women in Healthcare Manufacturing Africa.

Skhumbuzo Ngozwana is the CEO of Kiara Health, a South African based and Africa-focused medical device company. He is a board member of the Global Action for Fungal Infections (GAFFI). He is also a member of the AHMTEC Secretariat – the African Healthcare Manufacturing Trade & Exhibition Conference.

An expert in the African Pharmaceutical industry, he has consulted to the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States Pharmacopeia Convention (USP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). He also co-authored the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa.

Dr Mariatou Tala Jallow has held various high-level positions over her career including Senior Manager at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. She is also a member of the 2022 Expert Review Committee for the Generic & Biosimilar Medicines Programme and is the Founder, Managing Director and lead consultant at TalaConsult in The Gambia – a global health consultancy company established in 2020. Tala was previously the Chief Pharmacist of Ministry of Health – The Gambia and has held several international consultancy positions with organizations such as The World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO) and others. She holds a PhD in Pharmacy and Masters’ Degrees in Pharmacy and Health Administration from the University of Oslo, Norway.

Frank Muonemeh is the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMGMAN), an advocacy group for pharmaceutical and life science manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Being a pharmacist, he advocates for medicine security in Africa, representing all pharmaceutical manufacturing entities in the country. His contributions significantly influence policy discussions regarding access to medicine and market access, impacting both Nigeria and the broader African context.

Chishamiso Mawoyo is an experienced business professional with over 25 years’ expertise in financial management, strategic execution and project development across diverse African and international markets. His career spans audit, accounting, corporate finance, commercial financial management, financial modelling, capital raising and investment management. He has worked with both long-established enterprises and start-ups, including agribusiness, manufacturing and healthcare ventures, bringing strong capabilities in project planning and execution. Earlier roles include positions with Coopers & Lybrand, Ernst & Young and other private financial services firms. He currently serves as a Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Lagos, West Africa, where he is the Africa Lead for Health & Education, for early-stage investments.

Matt Tyson is a seasoned healthcare leader with expertise in developing markets and public-sector systems. A trained Molecular Biologist and Bioinformatician, he has held senior roles at GSK and Abbott, overseeing multi-billion-dollar operations across hundreds of countries. With deep experience in supply chains, manufacturing, and logistics, he led the supply of over a billion diagnostic tests to Africa during COVID-19. Now based in South Africa, Matt is committed to advancing healthcare in low- and middle-income countries by applying best practices tailored to local needs, driven by a strong belief in sustainable development through partnership and collaboration.

Dr. Tadesse Teferi Mekonen is a physician, public health specialist, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in clinical care, teaching, public health program design, and research. He is Co-founder and Group CEO of ANT Holding, and currently serves as Director General of Africure Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing in Ethiopia. Dr. Mekonen has held leadership roles with organisations including Avacare Global, Namibia’s Ministry of Health, and the University of Washington’s I-TECH. He has advised the World Health Organization and serves on several continental health and research boards. A recipient of Ethiopia’s Legion of Honor (2024) and the ICASA Young Researcher’s Award (2015), he brings deep expertise in Africa’s healthcare systems, regulatory landscape, and investment environment. He holds an MD from Addis Ababa University and an MPH from Walden University, with advanced training in HIV research and clinical care. His passion lies in building Africa’s R&D and local manufacturing capacity.

Gertrude Mothibe is a Pharmacist who has specialised in pharmaceutical industry areas. She has a Masters’ Degree in Pharmaceutical Services and Medicines Control from Bradford in the UK, with a Post Masters Diploma in Industrial Pharmacy, Regulation and Drug Discovery from St. Luke’s Foundation in Tanzania. She has worked as CEO of Lesotho Pharmaceutical Corporation for 4 years. She has lectured in pharmaceutical programs at the National University of Lesotho for 10 years, and at the Boitekanelo Health College in Botswana for 3 years. Gertrude is now running her own Pharmacy Consultancy company Pharm Legacy, consulting in pharmaceutical industry and regulation. Gertrude is the Chairperson of the Southern African Generic Medicines Association (SAGMA) and Treasurer of the Federation of African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (FAPMA).

Krupali Shah holds a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is the Technical Director at Revital Healthcare, a Kenya-based manufacturer of medical devices and diagnostics. She plays a key role in advancing local manufacturing of lateral flow rapid tests for priority diseases including HIV, malaria and other infectious diseases, with a focus on building sustainable diagnostic production capacity in Africa.

Her work focuses on scaling product innovation from development to manufacturing, including technology transfer, quality systems and regulatory pathways, and works closely with international partners, research institutions, global health organizations, and policymakers to expand innovation and access.

Krupali brings a strong technical and industry perspective to the AHMTEC Secretariat, supporting the event’s focus on strengthening healthcare manufacturing across Africa.

Assietou Sylla Diouf is a seasoned finance and global health leader with extensive international experience across public and private sectors in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. She is currently CEO of VaxSen, leading vaccine manufacturing and commercialisation initiatives across Africa, and previously served as CFO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. A qualified chartered accountant, she has held senior roles at the African Union and leading financial institutions, and is widely recognised for her expertise and engagement in financial governance and organisational transformation

Patricia Ndikumana is a seasoned, multilingual business and project management professional with over 12 years’ experience in strategic account management, market expansion and cross-functional programme delivery. She brings a strong track record of building and managing complex partnerships, coordinating diverse stakeholder groups and leading dynamic teams to deliver high-impact outcomes. Recognised for her ability to operate effectively across cultures and sectors, Patricia excels at aligning people, processes and resources to achieve maximum operational output with efficiency and precision. Her strengths include project planning and execution, cross-functional and cross-cultural team management, strategic coordination and resource optimisation. Colleagues describe Patricia as dynamic, driven and highly reliable — a pragmatic leader who consistently delivers structured, well-managed projects that achieve measurable results.

 

Jenny Froome is a Director, Conference Strategist and a Champion of Life-Saving Supply Chains. As a director and owner of Upavon Management she leads a dynamic South African-based event management company with a global footprint. With decades of experience, Jenny specialises in curating impactful, high-level conferences and events that bring people together, spark innovation, and drive meaningful change. Jenny is deeply passionate about outstanding customer service, creative event experiences, and the transformative power of supply chains that save lives – particularly in healthcare and humanitarian sectors.
